PBC Results

I was away whilst the PBC was carried out on my car, and I only got the results from them after asking how it went a few days later over email. When I dropped off the car I also asked them to carry out PPF on the main impact areas. This will use the Xpel film technology and they will be covering the entire nose cone as well as the impact areas on the the front and rear wings. They basically answered all my questions form the previous PBC post and sent me an email with the following:

Great news on the PBC – to quote my technician (who has been doing this for some time), “it’s as good as many I’ve seen straight from the factory”.
Genuinely, no real issues cropped up, we just finessed what was already good, so hats off to you! :

So looks like I sailed through without any extra costs incurred! They also sent and answer to all my questions from before.

  • Tracking set up all OK.
  • Econoseal connectors adjusted, all OK.
  • The brake flexi hoses nipped up a bit more and have been bled just fine, pedal feels good.
  • We have a DOT4 label we can use just for the IVA, but will be taken off again. A replacement only comes with a new master cylinder, It’s not hard for you to make one yourself after.
  • Hub nuts tightened.
  • Nut covers fitted to all that needed them. (I actually gave them the left overs I had and told them to apply where I missed)
  • Headlamp alignment sorted (questionable as I ended up doing this myself again later)
  • Wiper blade is normal to be longer, this just gets cut to fit, all OK.
  • As for the fuel gauge, we need to have a full tank for the IVA test, and this will allow us to ensure the float level is set correctly for a full tank. Are we all right to fill it and add that to the invoice, if you’ve already put 20L in there, it should take approx. 16L or so?

At the bottom of the email was this last bit:

The nose cone however, is sadly not as straight forward. Now it’s on site we can confirm this is actually a crack and not a scratch. I’ve gone back to Caterham to see how they’d like to proceed. So this might impact the PPF application process somewhat, I’ll know more once I’ve heard back from them.

The next day I got a call saying that the crack will be fully repaired and resprayed under warranty and that they will need to remove the stripes to do this. This then gave them the opportunity to apply the PPF on the nose before the stripes get put on top, which is a great result as it looks better this way.

So all in all so far so good, and very good customer service so far from the guys at Caterham Silverstone.

Here's how it looked on the drop off all standard parts (different wheels/indicators etc)
